Review: Stigma Rotary Tattoo Machines and what I think of them.

So Element Tattoo Supply just got in the Rotary Stigma Tattoo Machine and so I had the honor of checking it out so could do a review about this Rotary Tattoo Machine. The box it came in was pretty basic so I was not that impressed by that, being that the price of the Tattoo Machine is around 600 bucks! And that the box was so generic but, then I opened the box and WOW then I was sure of this product. I asked some of my tattoo buddies about this Rotary Tattoo Machine and It seems that the Stigma Tattoo Machine got great ratings. For Rotary Tattoo Machines I use a Gen 6 Swash Drive Rotary Tattoo Machine those are my tattooing personal preferences, but I will give the Stigma a try!
There are a lot of features I like about this tattoo machine,
- The quality of the machine, is very impressive.
- The functionally of this tattoo machine is awesome.
- You can change the stroke of the tattoo machine of the fly.
- The weight of the tattoo machine.
- The rubber band feature, that hold the rubber band down
- The Colors they come in, red is my favorite one.
- The Dual connection. RCA or Standard Clip Cord feature.
- All around construction the the tattoo machine.
Things was not so happy about.
- The packaging.
- The price of this tattoo machine is a little high.
- No spare parts in case something got broken.
- yep that is !!! hahah

This is my personal blogger about my life of tattooing so keep up with it, I will be writing about some interesting stories about my life of tattooing, true stories from before to now.
(With there being so much talent in the tattoo industry in nowadays, the style and uniqueness of Eddie “Edball” Tana is what makes him stand out amongst the best out there. Born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1974 his parents moved the family to the US in search of a better life. Growing up in Fullerton, California Eddie Tana always had and showed ambition for independence and freedom of expression. Though there was no direct influence in arts from home, at the age of 15 Eddie began to be fascinated by art, particularly street art and tattoos. With tips from older and more experienced tattoo artists Eddie began practicing his artwork and by the age of 18 sold his car to afford his first tattoo kit from Joe Kaplin Tattoo Supply and began what would become a gateway to his success, tattooing.
First working on friends, soon enough Eddie was known as the go-to guy for all tattoo styles in and Westminster and Fullerton. In 1994 tattoo artist and friend, Bob Nguyen invited Eddie to join him working in Hollywood, beginning his apprenticeship in Boulevard Tattoo with German native tattoo artist, Uwe (RIP). Working there for 3 years and moving on to Studio City Tattoo for 1 ½ years gave Eddie the advantage of learning from artists such as world renowned Austrian tattoo artist Pogo, Baby Ray (Spotlight Tattoo), independent tattoo artist Nina Depezo, Danny Wild (Tattoo Mania), Randy Howell (Hot Stuff Tattoo), Slick Rick (North Shore Tattoo), Rockwood (Studio City & Big Island Tattoo) and Jonas Westernland, Clay Decker (True Tattoo) would give a few tips as well.
By 1999, he opened his first tattoo shop along with friend Bob Nguyen calling it, “Addictions Tattoo Inc.” in Orange County. By 2003 he left Addictions to open up the world famous and finest tattoo shop in the Southern California area, OC Tattoo Inc. . Obtaining plenty of experience artist and working close with other artist like Arnold Santos (Lefty’s Tattoo San Diego) giving Eddie the opportunity to become a top of the line tattoo artist specializing in Japanese artwork and having a positive impact on his peers and clients. As side his local and loyal clients Eddie has also inked celebrities like Tyrese Gibson (Singer/Actor), John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls frontman), Wilford Brimley (Actor), Kenny Miller (Blood Shot Clothing Inc.), Tyler Evan (Motorcross), Troy Hoff (stuntman), MMA Fighters: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Tim “Big Perm” Persey, Nam Phan, Justin Levens (RIP)and Johnny “knee” Dinh. Taking advantage of the opportunity to work in Hiratsuka, Japan as guest artist at “Homies Tattoo” from 2006-2007. Upon his arrival back in OC and realizing the lack of tattoo supplies available through suppliers, Eddie set his sight on becoming the best tattoo supplier in the country and officially opened for business Element Tattoo Supply in June 2008.
Now doing his share in the tattoo industry for over 10yrs, I have been feature artist in magazines such asInked, Lowrider and many Japanese Magazines, not to mention his OC Tattoo Shop praised as best in OC by OCweekly. Having overcome many obstacles life has brought, he has achieved all his success and is still the modest and down to earth guy he’s always being. Now Eddie still works out of his OC Tattoo shop (appointment only) and is looking to expand the shop to have a special station only for guest artists and also opening a 2nd tattoo shop in Costa Rica. Though it may seem he’s reached the top, Eddie is aware there’s much more to accomplish, he just hasn’t figured it out yet.
As for OC Tattoo Eddie has done many things not of the norm of tattoo shops around. He sponsors everything to bring his tattoo shops name up from bands like “A Thorn For Every Heart” “beauty School Drop Outs” ” Almost Home” Professionl Poker players like “Tim Phan” , Fighters Like “Quinton Rampage Jackson” just to name a few. Eddie is always looking out for new talent and is making his mark in everything he puts his heart to.
Talens Drawing Ink for my tattoos and what I think.

Every tattoo artist has their preferences in tattoo inks / pigments that they use, as for me I love working with Talens Drawing ink for all of my tattooing .I use it for everything, from dark to light even for tribal tattooing. I do all my black tattooing with talens black, outlines are solid black and last a forever. I wont use any other tattoo ink for my black. For the past 17 years of my tattooing career 14 years of it has been with Talens black. Here is a link to the tattoos I have done in the past using Talens black.

Realistic tattooing is the in thing nowadays, I see a bunch of tattoo artist doing portrait style tattooing all over the world. i did this back in 2003 at OC Tattoo before it was remodeled to the way it looks now. I think this tattoo took about one hour and a half. The colors I used for this tattoo was pigment I mixed myself with national tattoo supplies powders.

OK where do I begin to talk about rotary tattoo machines? First when I started out tattooing at home I was like everyone else out there that could not afford a tattoo machine let alone use one. So like beginner tattooers out there I made my own homemade tattoo machine. Yes! homemade! It was a lot of trial and error with making those prison style rotary tattoo machines. It was a walk man motor, taped to an L bracket taped to a pen, and it was powered by four D batteries. The needle was a guitar string bent into shape and the tip was sharpened to a point.
As for my ink, I didn’t know what to use or where to get it ” this was in the early 1990′s” so I asked around and found out how to make shift some black ink. so I made did it. “secret sorry I cant give this up.” as time went by and I was tattoo more I got my self a puma tattoo machine that made a big difference it made me go from automatic to manual drive over night, you see rotary tattoo machines are simple to work with you just have to set you needle to length and set your speed higher or lower. I didn’t really feel like using rotary tattoo machines until a bunch of my tattoo friends started talking about them again. it was like “what we are going back to the old school?” But yes in deed they told me to give it a chance so I did. I got one from element tattoo supply the stinger gold rotary tattoo machine. at first it took some time to adjust to they way it hits in the skin, sounded funny because they are quite, but after about 10 tens of messing around with it I kind of liked it . It made my job easier. But that was that I used the rotary tattoo machine for a few tattoos then decided to go back to the elite tattoo machine it matched the way I tattoo better, it hits hard, and can keep up with the way I tattoo .
Eddie Tana’s Low Profile Pre-Made Tattoo Needles.

Low Profile tattoo needles are made the way I tattoo, a bunch of companies out there make pre-made tattooing needles but what makes my low profile tattoo needles different from all the other companies out there is that I had the front grouping and soldering of the tattoo needle made the way I told by my fellow elder tattooers back in the days. If you have been tattooing before pre-made tattoo needles even came out, then we most likely we are in the same boat. If you like your tattoo needles stiff my low profile tattoo needles would be the one for you. In the beginning of the new era of pre-made tattoo needles I tried out a bunch of them but I hated to use them because of the grouping style of the tattoo needles. So I stuck to making my own needles for a long time Years went by and still I wasn’t happy with the way these companies were creating them. I could never find that perfect tattoo needles grouping the way I made them. All the pre-made tattoo magnum needles on the market were very loose and I hated that. So I sent my design to Element Tattoo Supply to make pre-made tattoo needles my way. I’m not saying I invented the style because this style is the way I was always told to make it. It wasn’t hard for me to use them either, once I got the first set of magnum needles it was over from there. It made my life so much easier, not only was there less trauma to the skin, it packed inked very well, just like the way I made mine own tattoo needles. They are the best tattoo needles for me.

Tattoo Needles:
I feel all tattoo artists have different ways and or opinions of tattooing and the way tattoo needles are made, some artist live by the bug pins while some live by long tapers, personally I love both long tapers and bug pins but I would not use bug pins for my outlines, for my outlining its all long tapers.
The reason I say all tattoo artist have there own thoughts about tattooing is because during the beginning stages of tattooing it seemed to me like every one had “their” way.
I have had the luck of tattooing with many different styles of tattooing from artist from around the globe and I learn something from each and every one of them, some I took the advice and some I just listen to their output.
But this is my take on tattoo needles and pre-made tattoo needles and how they are used.
Shading Tattoo Needles:
There are few different styles of shading tattoo needles, some are round, laid flat, weaved, and the old school way was the double stacked. Still to this day some tattoo artist use the double-stacked technique.
Magnum – 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 25,
Curved Magnum – 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 25,
Loose Rounds. – 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18
Flat Mag – 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 25

Liner Tattoo Needles:
When it comes to Liner tattoo needles there are two techniques, or styles one style is tight round liners and the second is the loose round liner, it is all in the way the tattoo needles are grouped and soldered.
For tight liner tattoo needles they are grouped in tight manner then solder together.
For the loose tattoo needles they are grouped loose and then soldered together.

Bug Pin Tattoo Needles: Tradition Tattoo Artist, lining and shading
Long Taper Tattoo Needles: Lining and shading needles they come in the same sequence as the long taper tattoo needles but are more blunt.

Element Tattoo Supply Presents Musink 2012, this years Musink | 2012 was a jam packed event, great tattoo artist and great bands performed. Element Tattoo Supply was proud of this years event even though we did not bring product for sale we were there to support the tattoo industry in Orange County, California. from the feed back we received was great like everyone was happy. Tattooers from all over came out to show there stuff! There where many tattoos being done the whole weekend it seemed more then last years! OC Tattoo was with us along with Arnold Santos and Dan Nite Owl Tattoo of San Diego , Dan tattooed non stop it was great to meet him, Rick Walters stop by to say hello like always.
